The current version of Rival is 1.1; version 1.1.3 will be shipping at MacWorld
We've encountered a problem running our anti-virus program, Rival (version 1.1, Microseeds are now shipping to all registered users version version 1.1.3, which fixes the problem), while using tape drives that use the DC-2000 tapes. This problem can result in an unexpected initialization of your hard disk, so if you are using Rival and you own one of these tape drives, please remove Rival from your System Folder and restart your computer before you backup. At this time, we have contacted all of the registered Rival owners to alert them of this problem, but we need to get the message out to the people who couldn't be reached by phone, the people who haven't registered yet, and the people who "borrowed" Rival from a friend. It may be rotten publicity for our product, but please advise any one you know with a DC-2000 tape drive to remove Rival from the System Folder and restart the computer before they backup. We confirmed the problem (fortunately, it was found in a testing lab and no customer lost data over it) and notified the registered owners over the last two days; it looks like we have a solution, and we're testing it now. We expect to be shipping new Rival disks to all registered owners late next week.
